Hi I’m Gemma.

Having worked as a qualified Primary School teacher for 12 years, and running a Forest School toddler group, I have supported and encouraged a wide variety of ages (including parents!) to learn new life skills. I have first hand experience of how much sleep deprivation can impact on every area of your life. After many sleepless nights I was convinced I had Postnatal depression and nearly had a serious car crash. I was desperate for someone to help me (or take my daughter away for a few days).

My eldest daughter came into the world in a whirlwind and didn’t sleep from the moment she was born. She suffered with CMPA, severe silent reflux, hip dysplasia and wore a harness until she was 6 months old. My husband and I ended up sleeping in shifts just to survive the day; we didn’t see each other or have the energy to enjoy time with our daughter. Spending hours rocking or bobbing her to sleep also had a massive impact on my physical health, something I am still trying to put right 4 years later!

As our younger son was approaching his second birthday and we spent most of yet another evening trying to get him to sleep, we decided that the situation was only going to go in one direction and it definitely wasn't going to get better.  
He's always been a tricky sleeper but over the 2 years of his life we'd just migrated from one sleep challenge to another. Gemma gave us the knowledge and confidence to persist at gentle strategies that allowed him to develop independent sleep skills and what a difference it has made to all of our lives. Its taken a few weeks but we no longer approach every bedtime with total dread, it is possible for one person to put both children to sleep without the house being screamed down but the biggest change is that we have moved from it taking up to three hours to get him to settle to 20 minutes maximum. We can even open his bedroom door after he's sleep without having a guaranteed sobbing wreck when we try to leave.  Long may it last! Thank you Gemma. We highly recommend your skills.

Our little boy would only fall asleep whilst being breast fed and for a couple of months he could not sleep anywhere but on me or in our bed, needless to say this was really affecting my mental health and ability to cope and our little boy was grumpy and overtired most days! 


With Gemma’s help he is now able to go to sleep on his own for naps and at bedtime and settles without any crying! He actually enjoys his bedtime routine!

Before we tried Gemma's plan, our daughter would only fall asleep by breastfeeding (or the usual long car journey). This meant only mummy could do bedtime and asking anyone else to attempt it was a huge deal. She also woke 2 - 3 times for night feed, which at 2 and half years old, we knew she didn't need.

We were very skeptical having tried (and failed) ourselves to get her to go to sleep by herself, but to our absolute amazement it actually worked. On night one after only 45 minutes and on night 2 after only 25 minutes. And I never felt we were being mean in changing the routine.

Our daughter now has a much better night's sleep as do we. We still have some work to do, but I really didn't believe there could be so much improvement so quickly.

It was a real pleasure dealing with Gemma, she was such a lovely person to help us through what had become quite a stressful situation - long bedtimes, multiple night wakes and early mornings. Gemma was kind and supportive the whole time while clearly explaining the plan we were to follow. When we struggled, she encouraged us and when our daughter resisted, she tweaked the plan to suit us. Overall I felt we received a very personal service, and well worth the price, for a better night's sleep every night since we started!

Our son was a good sleeper, in fact a GP once told me to wake him so that he could feed! He got to about 15 months and started to climb out of the cot, I was concerned that he would fall and hurt himself and so we changed the cot into a bed. Things were fine, he stayed in his bed and slept through the night like he had always done. Then it all started to go wrong! He wouldn’t settle at bedtime unless I laid my head next to him so he could play with my hair. This often used to take 30mins which was an issue as I have two other sons to get to bed. If I left him in the room awake he used to scream and kick the door which meant I often used to have to let him out of his room just so I could read and be with my other two boys. After that he wasn’t always guaranteed to stay in bed during the evening. It wasn’t unheard of for him to come downstairs about 8pm and be up for a few hours. He then started to wake at 1am every single night and refused to go back into his bed. He used to sleep with us from 1am until the morning. I got his head and my husband got his kicking feet!

I tried everything, feeding him more food/milk in the day, taking his dummy away from him, stopped breastfeeding, restricting his day nap, giving him a longer day nap. I was at the end of my tether, completely out of ideas and my husband and I were both exhausted. This carried on until he was 2 years old and I said enough was enough.

A friend of mine had used a sleep trainer very successfully and so when I heard about Gemma I contacted her to see if there was anything she could do to help. I wasn’t sure if a two year old would be too old to train, whether her advice would just be aimed for babies. Gemma and I had an initial short phone call to discuss my son, his personality, any relevant background and his sleeping issues. Right from the first phone call I was filled with confidence that Gemma would be able to help.

There was no judgement or eye rolling! No “you lay next to him and let him to what to your hair?!” Just a practical, problem solving approach to an issue which was starting to have a profound impact on my mental and physical health as well as the wellbeing of my family.

Gemma asked me to complete a questionnaire which didn’t take very long and after that we had a Skype call to discuss the plan which she would like me to follow. This was communicated very simply and clearly and followed up with lots of written notes which were equally easy to follow. I was left under no doubt that if I followed the plan, it would work. And it did! In four days, my son was self settling and sleeping through the night, sometimes for 12 hours. This is the stuff of dreams!

The whole way through the two week consultation, Gemma was so supportive, always on hand to help and advise me. Constantly showing empathy and understanding.  Gemma answered any questions I had, however silly I might have felt they sounded.

I have already recommended Gemma to a friend, I honestly feel if she’s been able to help my son sleep then she can help anyone! What a gift :)

One-to-One Sleep Solutions Package
This is the most popular package, and consists of:-

  • A preliminary evaluation. This is a comprehensive questionnaire about your child’s sleep habits and routines that you’ll fill out prior to our meeting. (Having this information in advance helps us make the most of our time together).

  • A private, 90 minute consultation in the comfort of your own home, or via Skype/FaceTime or telephone, where we’ll discuss strategies, troubleshoot possible problems and learn how to address bedtime, naptime, nightwakings or any other specific issues you might be dealing with.

  • A detailed, fully customized sleep plan, that I will prepare for you after the conclusion of our meeting.

  • Four follow-up telephone calls during the first week following the consultation. These follow-up calls last about 15 minutes, and we’ll use this time to deal with any setbacks you might be having or answer any general questions.

  • One week of e-mail support. After your four follow-up telephone calls have been used, you still have an additional week of e-mail support where you can email me once daily, excluding Sundays I will always aim to reply to your queries within one working day.

The total cost for the One-to-One Sleep Solutions package for a baby or toddler in a cot is £245 by Skype/Facetime/Phone. If your child is in a bed this package is £265 due to the complexity of the plan.

Face to face consultations are available within a 30 minute driving radius of Winchester (further distances can be accommodated with additional travel expenses– please call for details)
New-born – Get it right from the Start Package
This is a comprehensive training plan helping parents of new-borns train their little ones to have fabulous sleep skills from a very young age and can be implemented from day one! Getting an early start in establishing healthy sleep habits is a huge advantage for both babies and their parents. With this package, you will learn everything you need to teach your baby to be an independent sleeper right from the beginning. It is a fantastic gift package for new parents too and consultations can take place before or after the baby has arrived. (gift certificates available and can be posted direct to the lucky couple if required) It consists of:-

  • A private 60 minute telephone or in-home consultation. We will discuss how to establish a healthy sleep plan for your new-born, discussing sleep needs, schedules for feeding, naps and bedtime, how to help teach your baby the difference between day and night, creating the right sleeping environment, strategies to encourage sleep, when to expect your baby to be sleeping longer stretches, and common sleep issues that can be easily avoided.

  • A detailed sleep plan. If you are expecting, the gentle, caring techniques in your sleep plan will teach you how to create an independent sleeper from day one, and will give you a flexible guide to quickly bring some routine, when baby arrives, to a time of your lives which can otherwise become quite overwhelming. If you baby has already arrived, your sleep plan will be fully customized for your family.

  • One follow-up phone call. If you are following a sleep plan from the beginning then you will find your baby is naturally developing wonderful independent sleep skills, you may find you have some questions so we will schedule a telephone call within 2 weeks of the baby’s birth just in case (if you are expecting) or within 2 weeks of consultation (if you already have your baby at home). These calls typically last about 15 minutes.

  • Two follow-up e-mails I will give you my personal email address so you can email me on two occasions with any questions or concerns any time within the first 3 months of your baby’s birth or our consultation. After 3 months you can purchase another week of email support at any time should you need it .

The total cost for the New-born – Get it right from the Start Package is £125 By Skype/Facetime/Phone

The Refresher
It is not uncommon for babies and toddlers who have been taught to be great sleepers to ‘test the boundaries’ from time to time. This option is for parents who have met with me in the past, but are looking for a ‘refresher’. This is a popular option for past clients who have recently had a new baby – or who are expecting in the near future. It consists of:-

  • A private, 60 minute consultation, usually by phone or by Skype, during which we’ll use to discuss any particular challenges you are having with your child. Since we’ve already worked together, a full hour is usually more than enough time to cover all your questions and concerns.

  • Optional 2x follow-up emails that you can use to send me any additional questions that might come up as you get things back on track. I’ll aim to respond to your email within one day.

The total cost for the Refresher Package 60 minute consultation is £95, with 2x optional emails £110
The Overnight
This personal support package is for those who want me at your home (in the Winchester area) for assistance on the night you choose to implement the program.
This consists of:

  • A preliminary evaluation This is a comprehensive questionnaire about your child’s sleep habits and routines that you’ll complete prior to our meeting. (Having this information in advance helps us make the most of our time together.)

  • 15 minute phone consultation to discuss details of the overnight support- time,requirements etc.

  • Private In-Home/Overnight Support I will join you prior to your child’s recommended bedtime and stay overnight until 7:00 am the next morning. The consultation will take place in the comfort of your home and we will begin your journey to great sleep together.

  • A detailed, fully customized sleep plan This will be prepared for you after our consultation and after the nights stay so you have your own personalized plan to help guide you through the upcoming nights.

  • Four follow-up telephone calls Four phone calls, typically lasting 15 minutes, can be scheduled for the first week following the consultation. We’ll use this time to deal with any setbacks you might be having or answer any general questions.

  • One week of e-mail support After your four follow-up telephone calls have been used, you still have an additional week of e-mail support if any questions arise. You will have my private e-mail address and I’ll respond to your emails within 1 business day

The total cost of the Overnight Package is £895
